Yvette Nicole Brown made an exciting announcement on this morning’s episode of The View. While filling in for Joy Behar, who was out with COVID, the actress revealed that her boyfriend Anthony Davis recently asked her to marry him.
When the show came back from its first commercial break of the episode, Whoopi Goldberg opened the floor up to Brown, who was smiling from ear to ear.
“Hi, Ms. Whoopi. I have some news. I heard that The View is the place to announce things like this. I’m engaged,” she said while holding up her left hand to give the audience a glimpse at her ring. “He’s here! That’s Tony!”
According to Brown, she was longtime friends with Davis — who she called a “good, kind, loving man” — before they became romantically involved.
“We have known each other since we were in our 20s. We were in an acting class together at church years ago,” she explained. “He’s an amazing actor, by the way — Anthony Davis, everybody.”
She added, “He was married at the time and we were platonic friends and then we lost touch for a few years and then my mom passed two years ago and he found me. After he divorced! Divorce first.”
The guest co-host then asked her fiancé, who was sitting in the front row of the studio audience, if he wanted to say anything, to which he adorably told the panel, “She’s just the most beautiful person in the world.”
Before they moved on from the segment, Alyssa Farah Griffin asked what we were all thinking: how did he propose?
“An auditorium was named after me in my old high school. We were celebrating that and then we were at a party and he gave me a scratcher and on the scratcher it said, ‘Will you marry me?’” Brown dished. “I thought I was gonna win some money and I won a man!”
The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
